Sounds like David Byrne has been having a tough time developing an enhanced ebook version of his “How music works”.

If you are a regular reader of this blog, or follow me on Twitter, you might have noticed that I’ve recently produced free ebooks of my notes from conferences like EuroIA, UX People, and the Tablet and App summit. I thought I’d explain the how and why of making them.

If you subscribe to this blog via RSS or the email updates, you’ve probably been inundated with a flood of blog posts as I wrote up all the talks I saw at EuroIA in Rome. And probably didn’t get a chance to read them all. Never fear - now you can catch up with the whole lot, including my talk about “Responsive IA” in one handy, free, ebook.

With barely 3-and-a-half days to go to the opening ceremony, I finally finished editing a book about protest, terror and dissent at the Olympics Games for the Guardian. It is based on a series of blog posts I wrote in the run-up to Beijing in 2008, supplemented with a generous delve into the Guardian’s archive of over a hundred years of reporting the Olympics. As has become the custom, here is the “DVD extra behind-the-scenes editor’s commentary” on putting the book together.

At the weekend, Julian Barnes wrote a piece for the Guardian Review lamenting the death of books, and describing ebooks as identikit publishing, books which hold information rather than knowledge. I think he his wrong, and that the ebook heralds a golden age of story-telling.

The Guardian recently published another ebook that I’ve edited for them: “ Battle for the Internet An open democracy or a walled garden?”. As has quickly become a tradition, here are my DVD extra behind-the-scenes thoughts on the editing process.
