Designing Your Website to be Search Engine Friendly
Designing Your Website to be Search Engine Friendly by Martin Belam
Based on Martin Belam's presentation at a conference on search engine optimisation in London in 2004 this article examines ways to design your web site to be friendly to search engines, without compromising either the visual or functional experience for your users. The areas covered include using standards compliant semantic mark-up with CSS for visual presentation, building sites with simple and shallow navigational structures, and providing context at all times on pages to aid both the user and search engines.
