These search plugins are in the OpenSearch format. This means that you can add them to the search bar in both Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2 and above.
To add these search engines directly to the search box in your browser, simply click the link next to search of your choice. Your browser should then prompt you to add the engine.

This plugin allows you to search the 7 days of catch-up TV available through the BBC's iPlayer service. The plugin works on Firefox and Internet Explorer, but the iPlayer requires that you use Internet Explorer in order to use the download service itself

Enter a town, city, country name, or a UK postcode to get a 5 day weather forecast from the BBC.

These plugins search Google UK, but restrict the results to content from the BBC site. The second plugin restrictes the results even further to those that have appeared on the news.bbc.co.uk part of the BBC's site.

Doctor Whoogle uses Google to search the BBC's official Doctor Who site. Useful if you need to find out when Bok or WOTAN first appeared on the show in a rush. Or who The Master is.
