One sure way to get a mention on this blog is to make an exciting list of the most influential blogs in the UK, stick currybetdotnet in it, and then email me to tell me what you've done, just in case my vanity search alerts fail to pick it up.
And that is exactly what Wikio have done with their UK blogosphere list.
This blog just squeezed into the top 100, although obviously my techie credentials are not as strong as they used to be, as I got classified as 'other'.
The listing aims to be dynamic:
" The position of a blog in the Wikio ranking depends on the number and weight of the incoming links from other blogs. These links are dynamic, which means that they are backlinks or links found within articles.
Blogrolls are not taken into account and Wikio only counts links from the last 120 days. We thus hope to provide a classification more representative of trends in the blogosphere.
Moreover, the weight of a link depends on the linking blog’s position in the Wikio ranking. With our algorithm, the weight of a link from a top blog is greater than that of a link from a blog that is less well ranked. "
One thing I noticed straight away was the fact that Iain Dale's Diary was nestling in at number 5, and deadly rival Guido Fawkes was....nowhere. Perhaps that will give them something else to argue about, after the recent 'sixth form boys with rulers' antics over on the Guardian site over their respective blog stat claims.
