currybetdotnet Privacy Statement

I do not set out to collect personal information from visitors to currybetdotnet.

However, the site does use some software and services which have some privacy implications, and I wanted to set those out clearly for users.

Movable Type

When you leave a comment on the site, the Movable Type software powering this blog captures your IP address.

You are able to submit an email address and web URL with any comment. These items are personally identifiable.

Your email address will not be published on the site, although I may use it to contact you directly about your comment. Your website URL, if you submit one, will be published on the site.

I do not use the rel="nofollow" attribute on links in comments. If you have posted a contribution to my site, your URL deserves any search engine juice it derives from appearing on currybetdotnet.

Google Analytics

I use Google Analytics to measure the usage of currybetdotnet.

This does not provide me with personally identifiable data, but I can see which links people have followed to reach the site, which technical platforms they are using, which search terms they used, and where visitors come from geographically.

This data is collected using an anonymous traffic tracking cookie from Google.

Google's full Privacy Policy can be found at http://www.google.com/privacy.html

Some people have issues with the use of Google Analytics. If you use the Firefox browser you can follow these instructions to prevent Google Analytics software from tracking you.

Add This.com

Underneath each individual entry on the blog you will see buttons to bookmark that entry or to subscribe to the currybetdotnet feed.

The 'Bookmark' and 'Subscribe' buttons are provided by a service called Add This.com. If you use these buttons, Add This.com will issue you with a cookie.

I am be able to see which pages have been bookmarked - although not by whom - and how many people have used this button to subscribe to the site's RSS feed.

The full Add This.com privacy policy can be found at http://www.addthis.com/privacy.html

Feedburner

The RSS feed for currybetdotnet is optimised using a service called FeedBurner. This allows me to see how many people are subscribed to my RSS feeds, using which readers, and which items are clicked upon. Again, the information is not personally identifiable.

FeedBurner also provide the subscribe by email option available on currybetdotnet. I am able to see the email addresses of users who are subscribed to that service.

FeedBurner's full privacy policy can be found at http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/privacy

You should be aware that in June 2007 FeedBurner were purchased by Google, and so Google's Privacy Policy is also applicable to this data.
